Faith And Works

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless ? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
James 2:14‭-‬26 NIV

On the 28th of December, I released a posted titled The Faith Talk where I spoke about having faith even though it can be hard sometimes now we need to talk about exercising faith.

So today I was reading the book of James and when I got to chapter 2, I was like woah, this is speaking to me…

I don’t know about you but when I read this, I felt as if God was directly speak to me because there was so many times in my life when I found myself telling myself that I need to have faith in order for something to occur but did not match my actions with my faith.

If you want to have faith for an A plus but don’t actual study for that A plus, you cant expect God to make the work magically appear in your head during tests. It doesn’t work like that. Your faith is dead, dormant, non- existence in that matter! Period.

Yes, have faith but work, do something that would put that faith into action. Work harder to get that promotion you’ve been believing God for! Take that medication so that God can work through that medicine to get you healthy.

How do you think God ensured that a lamb was there for Abraham to use instead of Isaac? Abraham actually had to take his son with him to show God that He was serious. God saw his faith and provided the lamb. Abraham was scared, yes but that didn’t stop his faith from being put into action.

When will you stop letting fear block your faith?

Everytime you let fear block you from doing the very thing that will unlock your faith then you might as well stop faithing it, period.

Just because you fear your co-workers will hate you for getting that promotion shouldn’t stop you from working hard and believing God for that promotion. Just because the doctors say that you may not survive long, shouldn’t stop you from taking that treatment and having faith for healing!

God is not looking at the circumstances, the “what ifs” , the maybes, no, God is looking at the faith and the work put into exercising that very same faith.

Please do yourself a favour and start aligning your faith with your actions. Don’t block your blessings and your prayers from being answered because you won’t match your actions with your faith.

Align your faith with your actions !
