Compliments of the new year to you all❤
The verse that become my favorite just after I started my journey with God.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
– Romans 8v28 ESV
I was once again reminded of this verse at the end of 2019. Why am I telling you this?
Well, this post is dedicated to all those whose 2019 was filled with pain, tears, heartbreak and unhappiness. I am dedicating this to let you know that you are allowed to start over, begin again.
So many of us believe that if we slip up in this journey, it’s over, when in actual fact it isn’t. If the shepherd could leave 99 sheep to find one, nothing is stopping God from letting you come back to Him after a slip up or terrible year.
Slipping up doesn’t make you less loved by God or less of a child of His, you are still His child and you are loved even more not less. God takes pride in us as His children and would stop at nothing to ensure that no matter what, he has got us.
The setback you may have endured in 2019 may have got you thinking that God is mad at you and God doesn’t love a “back slider” but Romans 8:39 assures both you and I that despite the pain, hurt, tears, brokenness of 2019, nothing can separate us from God’s love.
2019 may have been tough but God’s word still states in Jeremiah 29:11 that He knows the plans he has for us.
Nothing may have seemed to be going good but God still assures us in Philippians 4:13 that we can do ALL things through Christ who gives us strength.
Once we realise that God will never leave nor forsake us, we need to grasp the fact that God is still willing to begin again with you.
How do we begin again?
1.Accept what has happened in the past and give it to God:
What I mean is whatever has brought you pain and broke you in the last year, come to terms with the fact that it has happened. Don’t deny it, try to suppress it or try to forget about it because it’ll resurface and become bigger than what you had left it and will keep you in an endless cycle of pain. Accept it, Deal with it fully, come to terms with it then go to God and lay it down before Him, let Him know. You can write it down, if you want to. Give it to Him and let Him know that you are giving Him even the deepest of scars, wounds, parts of yourself that you never let anyone see.
2. Fully Surrender Yourself
I know with myself, I am very reserved towards others so I used to be the same reserved person towards God and I wondered how I kept spiralling downwards all the time until I realized that it was because I chose not to surrender everything to God. The problem is we treat God as if He is of the world when He isn’t, meaning that He won’t judge our scars, downfalls, pain, wounds, tears and all that comes with us (read Romans 8:1). Starting over means Handing over the gears and the driver’s seat, the whole car, everything that has to do with you and your life to Him.
Devote Yourself to time with God and dedicate yourself to developing a stronger relationship with God.
4. Trust God
Trust Him with your life as it is and let him do what only He can do for He is the Great I am and Nothing is impossible when he is involved. No matter how deep the pain you experienced in the year was.
So to you who thought this journey is not worth it, it is because you can begin again.
It is your race, you run it, not the world so you can start over if you need to, God still loves you and will accompany you the whole way through.
